What's New at
EDGE?
Our Winter session is off and running to
a great start! We are thrilled to see familiar
faces back this session, and welcome those
who are new to our Edge Family!
In our efforts
to continuously improve our
facility, over the holiday weekend we made
some improvements to the recreational
floor. We also did a major cleaning,
re-organization and added new base board to
complete our new pony
walls!
With the holidays approaching,
we are coming into a busy time of year for
everyone. Please note that we will be
closed December 24 and will resume classes on
Januray 4th. Make sure to take advantage of
our holiday 3-day camps while your kids are on
break from school. These camps
will provide your children with a fun, safe
environment while you take care of your last
minute holiday
errands! |

Edge
Olympics February 6, 2010!
The Edge Olympics is an
opportunity for Academy students to perform
individual routines in a non-competetive
meet. All participants will receive awards
for each event and get a goodie bag.
Routines will be taught to all students in class
during the month of January, regardless of
whether they participate in the event.
Sign up before January 23 for
early bird pricing! Special "competition"
leotards will be available for purchase at the
time of
registration. |

UC Berkeley
Gymnastics Team
The University of California,
Berkeley Women's Gymnastics Team (and
possibly the men's) will be training at Edge in
December. They will work out in the early
afternoons during the week, and Sunday
mornings. Take advantage of this time to
check out some awesome collegiate
gymnasts!

Pre-School Program Updates from Coach

Have You Heard the
Word?
Introducing Word Of the
Week for your pre-schoolers! The word
of the week gives us a gymnastics reference
point for class. WOW will be brought up through
the course of the class to strengthen students'
gymnastics vocabulary. After class, we
hope your children will share the word of the
week and its meaning with you.
Skill Of the
Week gives your pre-schooler
something special to focus on in class.
For
example...
The WOW is Muscles, and
we talk about how strong our muscles are, and
how the food we eat keeps our muscles working
strong.
The SOW is
Handstand. Students have an opportunity to
work on Handstands in the obstacle course.
Although not all of are ready for a true
handstand, we will tailor the training of the
skill to your child's age and ability.

Seasons Greetings!

We have lots of new arrivals in our pro
shop including new leos, gymnastics blankets,
grips, jewelry, and more fun items on their
way!
You can also purchase
gym equipment such as mats, beams, bars for
your gymnast's home use! Many of the
equipment items we can get within a few
days. Just let us know what you'd
like! Check with the front desk for product
info and order forms.
And dont forget, when you refer your
friends to Edge and they sign up, we will give
you a $10 credit in our pro shop!

on the Ice!
California Ice Adventures has a new Holiday
ice rink at the Dublin Toyota! Make sure to go
check out this wonderful organization for a fun
filled family day on the ice, right here in our
back yard!

Holiday Closures
Edge will be
closed starting December
24 and we will resume classes
on January 4.
We will hold a designated make-up day
on December 22nd to aid
families in scheduling make-ups or missed
Thursday/Friday/Saturday classes. You
can also try and fit your child into our regular
schedule for make-ups if this day does not
accommodate your schedule. Please talk to
the front desk to schedule a make-up. The
week of Dec. 28th - Jan. 2nd is not
included in the 12-week session, so no make-ups
are necessary for missed classes during this
week.
It's most beneficial for your child to
schedule make-ups, so that they do not miss out
on the full curriculum planned for the
session. However, we understand that the
holidays are busy times for everyone, and are
offering to pro-rate for classes missed while we
are closed.

Gymnastics' Holiday 3-day Camp being held
December 21 - 23 and December 28 -
30. These camps will
give your children an opportunity to work on
their gymnastics skills, enjoy a
special project, and a day of fitness in a
safe environment.

Team
News
Level 5 State was a huge success at Las
Positas College, 11/21 - 11/22 with 373 Level
5's qualified to the event. Every Edge
athlete who competed earned multiple
medals. A special congratulations to
Edge's Rhianne Khweled, Level 5 State Floor
Champion, and Lydia Henderson, Level 5 State
Bars Champion. Thanks to all of the Edge
families who volunteered their time to make this
event a success, and to all of the Edge fans for
coming out to support our team.
The Level 4's competed at their State
Championship meet this weekend, 12/5 -
12/6 at the Pinole Fitness Center.

and encouraged to attend and cheer on our Level
7 through 10
teams. |

Kid's Night
Out
No Kids Night
Out in the month of December due to the Holiday
closure. The next KNO is January 22nd!
A fun evening of free play, obstacle
courses, relay races, charades, cha cha slide,
limbo, gymnastics, simon says, pizza, and
drinks!
Come check out all the fun! Please sign up

information.
